How to Make Your Turban Last Longer – Care Tips from Charkhi
Share
At Charkhi, we understand what a turban means to you. It’s more than a piece of cloth — it’s your identity, your expression, and often, a trusted companion for years.
I have turbans that have been with me for over a decade. Yes, they’re faded and worn, some barely holding together — but I just can’t part with them (yes, I’m sentimental too!). If you want your turban to last as long and age gracefully, here are a few tried-and-true tips:
🧼 Turban Care Basics
-
Hand wash in cold water
This is the gentlest method to clean your turban and helps preserve both the fabric and color. -
Air dry in the shade
Avoid direct sunlight when drying. Let it breathe and dry naturally. -
Keep it out of the sun as much as possible
We know, it sounds impossible — but direct sunlight is the main culprit behind faded turbans. -
Watch out for sweat and sun together
The combo of sweat and sunlight accelerates color fading. Use a patka or under-turban layer if needed. -
Avoid high heat dryers
Heat damages the fiber, weakens the fabric, and leads to shrinkage or stiffness. -
Be mindful with your salai
If possible, avoid poking a hole in your turban to snug your salai (pin) — it weakens the cloth over time.
🌈 A Note on Color Fading
Some colors naturally fade faster than others — that’s just how fabric dyes work. Darker and brighter shades tend to show fading more quickly. Don’t worry — it just means your turban is loved and lived in.
We hope your turban brings you years of comfort, strength, and style. Thank you for allowing Charkhi to be part of your journey.
